It depends on if you are a high school or college student.
Hosts will not generally provide you with transportation during your stay if you are in college and over age 18. If you are in high school or younger, you can purchase transportation with your package and your host will provide you with transportation to and from school each day.
When you arrive at your homestay, your Host will explain what public transportation is available in the area and the best way to get around.
