You've signed up to host with us...now what? Here's the breakdown of when you can start hosting.

Updated over a week ago

You've completed the host application process and have been approved as a StudentRoomStay host family—so what's next? First of all, congratulations! You are ready to start hosting. Here's some more information about when you'll be matched with an international student.

When can you start hosting?

We connect international students with host families—therefore, the timing of hosting opportunities all depends on how many international students are planning to study at a school near you. Unfortunately, if there are no students planning to study abroad in your area, there won't be any opportunities for you to host immediately.

🚨Note: Because hosting opportunities are only available when students study abroad near your school, signing up to host and getting approved does not automatically guarantee that you will be able to host an international student.

That being said, we would love to provide as many incredible homestay experiences as possible for our host families who take the time to apply.

Applying to host simply opens up the doors of opportunity for you and your family. 💫 When you are registered to as a host family in our system, you will be notified first of any hosting opportunities in your area.

We especially encourage host families to sign up if they are located in one of our 15 target markets, because we have the most international students in these locations.

  • If you do not live in one of our 15 markets, you are still welcome to join our network! There just may not be many hosting opportunities in your area.

When there is an opportunity to host in your area, we will let you know as soon as possible! → Learn more about how to approve or decline hosting opportunities.
