SRS Room Holding Policy
Note: This policy is subject to change at any time. Please check all SRS Homestay Policies on a regular basis for updates.
SRS Homestay offers Students the option to hold their room during holiday breaks by paying 50% of the standard Homestay Fee. This allows Students to leave their belongings in their room and ensures it is not reassigned to another Student during their absence.
Room Holding Terms
- Minimum Absence: Student must be away for at least 10 consecutive days to qualify.
- Advance Notice: Student must notify both SRS Homestay and their Host at least two weeks prior to departure. Requests made after departure will not be honored.
- Payment Terms: Student must pay:
- The Room Holding Fee (50% of weekly Homestay Fee)
- Two weeks of normal Homestay Fees
- Both amounts must be paid before departure.
- Room Use: Student may leave personal belongings in the room. The Host agrees not to repurpose or assign the room to another Student during the agreed hold period.
- Return Date Changes: Student must provide at least 7 days’ notice if their return date changes. Additional charges may apply for extended holds.
- Moving Out: If the Student plans to leave homestay after the break, they must provide two weeks’ written notice to both SRS and the Host.
- Failure to Return:
- If the Student does not return on the scheduled date and cannot be contacted, and if no Homestay Fees are on record, SRS reserves the right to instruct the Host to pack up the Student’s belongings and remove them from the home.
- No Room Hold Payment:
- Student must remove all belongings prior to departure.
- If returning, Student must pay a new Matching Fee and 4 weeks of Homestay Fees.
- Host Availability Not Guaranteed:
- SRS cannot guarantee the same Host will be available if Room Holding Fees are not paid in advance.
