SRS Homestay Damage & Liability Policy

StudentRoomStay Homestay (SRS Homestay) expects students to treat their homestay home, host family’s property, and all furnishings with respect and care. This policy outlines student responsibilities and procedures in the event of property damage.

Note: This policy is subject to change at any time. Please check all SRS Homestay Policies regularly for updates.

1. General Expectations

  • Students are required to maintain reasonable cleanliness and care in their assigned rooms and shared household spaces.

  • Students must report any accidental damage or breakage immediately to their host and SRS Homestay.

2. Responsibility for Damage

  • Students are financially responsible for any damage they cause to the host’s home, property, or belongings beyond normal wear and tear.

  • If multiple students share a room, and damage occurs without a clear responsible party, liability may be split evenly unless determined otherwise.

3. Damage Reporting & Resolution

  • Hosts must report any damage to SRS Homestay within 5 business days using the Host Incident Report Form, including photos when possible.

  • SRS Homestay will investigate the report and, when appropriate, inform the student and/or their guardian of the repair costs.

  • Students (or their legal guardians) will be invoiced for verified damages, and payment must be made within 14 days of notice.

4. Disputes

  • Students may dispute a damage charge in writing within 7 days of receiving notice.

  • SRS Homestay will review disputes and make a final determination in consultation with all involved parties.

5. Host Expectations

 

 

  • Hosts must provide a safe and well-maintained home environment.

  • Hosts are not permitted to directly charge students for damage; all claims must go through SRS Homestay.
