SRS Host Placement Agreement – Over 18

For Hosts assigned to students 18 years of age or older

1. Purpose

This Placement Agreement outlines responsibilities, expectations, and stipend terms for hosting a student who is 18 years of age or older through the StudentRoomStay Homestay (“SRS Homestay”) program. This agreement supplements the Host Listing Agreement, which remains in full effect.


2. Placement Details

3. Host Responsibilities (Adult Students)

General Care

  • Provide a safe, clean, and welcoming home that promotes comfort and cultural exchange.
  • Treat the student respectfully and include them as a member of the household.
  • Maintain privacy while encouraging healthy communication and engagement.
  • Respect cultural differences and help orient the student to American life.

Meals

  • Provide meals according to the selected package:
    • Guardian (18+):
      • Breakfast: Self-serve options available daily
      • Lunch: School-purchased or self-prepared with supplies provided by host
      • Dinner: Hot, home-cooked meals most evenings
    • Pro: May include no meals or limited meals — host must ensure kitchen access and guidance

Transportation

  • If transportation is included in the placement, provide rides to school and major appointments.
  • Provide airport pickup and drop-off at start and end of stay, if specified in placement details.
  • Help the student navigate public transportation and locate community resources.

Communication & Support

  • Respond to all communications from SRS within 24 hours.
  • Submit monthly check-in reports during the student’s stay.
  • Promptly report any issues related to safety, wellbeing, or conduct.
  • Do not engage in direct financial transactions or agreements with the student.

Household Environment

  • Share clear house rules within 72 hours of the student’s arrival.
  • Provide access to laundry, Wi-Fi, kitchen, and common areas.
  • Ensure the student is oriented on how to use household amenities safely and respectfully.

4. Compensation

SRS will pay the host a stipend of $__________ per month, paid biweekly. The stipend covers:

  • Meals (if included)
  • Utilities and wireless internet
  • Transportation (if included)
  • Shared household access and support in cultural adjustment

Stipend adjustments or proration may apply if:

  • The student is away for extended periods
  • The host requests early removal
  • Monthly reports are not submitted

Taxes: Hosts are responsible for applicable taxes. Annual stipends over $600 will be reported via 1099-MISC.


5. Termination

  • SRS may remove a student at any time due to policy issues, safety concerns, or student request.
  • Hosts may request the removal of a student with at least 30 days’ notice.
  • If immediate removal is requested, a $500 relocation fee may be deducted from the final stipend.
  • Final stipend payments will be prorated to the date the student vacates the home.

6. Agreement & Acknowledgement

By signing below, you acknowledge that:

  • You agree to the responsibilities of hosting a student over 18.
  • You understand the stipend structure and reporting expectations.
  • You agree to follow all relevant SRS policies, including the Host Family Code of Conduct and Standards of Student Care.
