SRS Student Code of Conduct
Applies to all students participating in the StudentRoomStay Homestay Program

1. Purpose
This Code of Conduct outlines the behavior standards required of all students participating in an SRS homestay. It exists to ensure a safe, respectful, and positive experience for both students and host families. Violations of this Code may lead to disciplinary action, relocation, or removal from the program.
2. General Expectations
All students agree to:
- Show respect, courtesy, and cultural sensitivity to their host family, school, and local community
- Follow all host household rules, including those related to curfews, screen time, quiet hours, and shared spaces
- Respond to SRS monthly check-ins, messages, or requests for information
- Participate in family life, communicate openly, and make an effort to adjust to new routines
- Comply with school attendance and academic expectations
3. Prohibited Behavior
Students may not engage in any of the following:
- Use, possess, or distribute alcohol, tobacco, or drugs (including vapes, e-cigarettes, or marijuana products)
- Commit any act that is illegal in the host community, including theft, vandalism, or violence
- Download, view, or share pornographic or violent content while in the host home
- Invite visitors over without host family permission
- Share a bedroom with another student or guest without approval
- Engage in sexual activity or inappropriate relationships while participating in the program
U18 Students Only:
- Must not date, have romantic sleepovers, or share a room with any individual
- May not travel overnight without SRS and parent/guardian approval
- Must follow any curfews or supervision rules set by the host family
4. Privacy & Boundaries
Students agree to:
- Keep their bedroom neat and private, and respect the private areas of others
- Ask permission before entering other people’s rooms or using shared items
- Refrain from taking photos or videos of host family members without consent
- Be mindful of personal hygiene, including regular bathing, laundry, and cleaning
5. Communication
Students must:
- Check in monthly with SRS via survey, email, or phone
- Notify both SRS and their host family of illness, emergencies, or problems in the home
- Be honest and responsive in all communication with SRS Support
- Keep their phone number and emergency contact info up to date
6. Travel & Absences
- Students must follow the SRS Travel Policy and get approval before traveling overnight
- All travel plans should be shared with both the host family and SRS at least one week in advance
- Unapproved or excessive travel may result in a warning or disciplinary action
- School attendance is mandatory — frequent absences must be communicated and excused
7. Program Integrity
- Students may not attempt to arrange direct payments or alternate housing outside of SRS
- Students agree not to misrepresent their age, needs, or background to SRS or the host
- Failure to follow this Code or other signed agreements may result in warnings, placement termination, or disqualification from future placements
8. Acknowledgement
By signing below, the student confirms:
- They have read and understood the SRS Student Code of Conduct
- They agree to follow these expectations for the entire duration of their program
- They understand that violations may lead to consequences including relocation or removal
